Beautification Meeting - Approved
November 10, 2009
Time: 7:00 PM

Called to order at 1905 hours.

 

Board members present: Kamesh Aysola (KA), Vicki Briskman (BV) and Chuck Knolls (CK), Var Deirmenjian (VD)

Excused: Vernalie Deirmenjian

Absent: Marie Patterson.

Stakeholders:  Sharon Zieska, Estella Taylor, Sunita Papal, and Elliot Galarza

 

There were no public comments.

 

Draft minutes of the September meeting were presented.  CK made a motion the minutes and VB seconded it.  Minutes were accepted as presented.

 

An informal meeting was held in October as there was no quorum.

 

OLD BUSINESS

  

Neighborhood clean-up mailers

  

The committee reviewed the information obtained from the post office bulk mailing meeting.  It will be followed up. 

 

Devonshire corridor improvement

  

VB will coordinate the photo clean up.

 

NEW BUSINESS

  

VB shared the details of the meeting with the principal of Lawrence Middle School about arranging some security help at the library immediately after school.  This is to address the problems in that area.  The principal Chris Rosas was very receptive and agreed to find the personnel.

 

 

 

 

Chatsworth stakeholder Sharon Zieska gave the details of the Rosemary and Thyme Community Garden.  It is located at 10161 Jordan St between Lassen and Devonshire.  The community

 

 

 

members grow seasonal fruits and donate them to the local charities, including food banks and churches.   The Garden requested funds to buy shade umbrellas.  A detailed discussion followed and various questions were answered.

 

CK motioned to allocate up to $500 for the R and T Community Garden to buy shade umbrellas.  VD seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Stakeholder Sunita Popal, political student from Cal State Northridge (CSUN) came to the meeting to do a class project.  She offered the services of her university student paper, Sun Dial, to cover Chatsworth events.

 

Meeting adjourned at 20:15 hours
