Outreach Meeting - Approved

1.  The regular meeting of the Chatsworth Neighborhood Council Outreach Committee was opened at 7:07 PM by Chair Jelena Csanyi.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT- Jelena Csanyi, Vernalie Deirmenjian, Var Deirmenjian, Robert Dager, Carol Lucas, Diana Dixon-Davis (7:11 PM).

COMMITTEE MEMBERS ABSENT- Allen Glazer.

STAKEHOLDER PRESENT- Saul Daniels, Clara Woll.

Attending members constituted a quorum.

2.  MINUTES OF PAST MEETING:  The November 24, 2009 meeting minutes were approved as presented.

3.  STAKEHOLDER AND PUBLIC COMMENTS: 

a. A group of Chatsworth High School seniors attended the Outreach meeting for partial credit towards meeting their 12-hour requirement for participation in government-related functions.  The program is led by Chatsworth High School instructor, Mr. Robert Hayes, as part of the curriculum in Government.   

4.  PAST EVENTS AND PREVIOUSLY APPROVED PROJECTS: 

a. Holiday Parade and Fair - The CNC advertisement was featured in the Parade brochure of which 3000 were distributed.  The veterans did not participate but the vehicle looked great. Board members walked along the float handing out CNC labeled candy and flags. Pictures are in CNC Scrap Book and have been posted on some of our posting locations.

Sign-ups for the newsletter were gathered at the CNC booth.  Flasher lights, candy, and various handouts, including election information were given out to the Fair attendees.

b. Promotional Items - The CNC Pocket Calendars and the Keychain Lights have arrived.  Key chain/bottle openers outlining the shape of a horse head may be purchased for the "Day of the Horse." CNC information will be printed along the frame.  Additional promotional items are under review

c. Tablecloth with CNC Logo - The tablecloth with the CNC logo, name, and website has not been ordered.  

d. Speed Sign - The Outreach motion for $1000 share in the CNC's PS&T $5000 contribution toward the sign was approved by the Board.

e. Annual Children's Art Show - CNC Sponsorship for the 10^th Annual Valley Wide Children's Art Show was approved by the Board.

f. Friends of the Library Book Sale - The CNC bookmarks were given to everyone who bought a book. A pocket calendar was given to anyone who signed up for the newsletter.  The Book Sale garnered almost $1400.00.

•5.      ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE MOTION:

a. To Request Up to $1000 for Chatsworth Neighborhood Council Support in Councilman Smith's Earth Day Clean Up for Refreshments.   

DISCUSSION - Request up to $1000 for in support of Councilman Smith's Earth Day Clean Up for refreshments for volunteers.

MOTION - To allocate up to $1000 in support of Councilman Smith's Earth Day Clean Up for refreshments for volunteers.

•6.      YEAR END REVIEW AND PLANNING FOR CNC E-NEWS:

•a.      The CNC e-newsletter, "The Chatsworth Roundup" is currently produced and edited by only one person, Saul Daniels.  He welcomes assistance of any type but primarily is requesting articles and photos. Due to the importance of the newsletter to CNC Outreach we need to find additional volunteer to be trained in doing the newsletter as a backup and assistant to current editor. 

•7.      TABLED MOTION FROM NOVEMBER 2009:

a. To spend up to $150 for installation of the post for "Take a Bag - Leave a Bag" dispenser.  The administrator for the agency had not contacted Jelena.   If the project does go forward then Jelena would like to move ahead with the motion.  It is currently tabled.

8.  COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS AND OTHER BUSINESS:

a.  The Board and the Equestrian Committee have approved the $5000 budget package from the 2009 DOTH for the 2010 DOTH scheduled for April 17^th. Outreach will be there.

b.  The next "Friends of the Library" Book Sale will be held April 17^th, 2010.

c.  The promotional "Money Mailer" postcard for the election will come out of the Outreach budget if we are in time for deadline. Jelena will check the cost and submittal deadlines with the mailer company.
