EMAIL FROM SOUTH COAST AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT

EMAIL FROM SOUTH COAST AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT DISTRICT:

Dear Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council President Cracium and Members of the Board:

The Hearing Board of the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) will be holding a public hearing on Saturday, January 9th, 2016, at the Granada Hills Charter High School beginning at 9:00 am.  The public hearing is to consider the issuance of an Order for Abatement addressing a natural gas leak at Southern California Gas Company’s (SoCalGas) facility storage site near Porter Ranch.

The Hearing Board is an independent administrative law panel.  State law requires that the five hearing Board members are appointed by, but act independently of, the SCAQMD Governing Board.  The hearing Board is authorized to issue Orders for Abatement and decide other issues related to SCAQMD rules.  The Hearing board hears evidence from both sides of an issue and reaches a decision based on the evidence presented.

The hearing is being held in the community to enable members of the public to observe the hearing first hand and to provide testimony.  The hearing is an administrative law proceeding similar to a judicial court.

We can also provide the Neighborhood Council with hard copies of the flyer.  If the Neighborhood Council would like copies of the flyer or additional information, please contact me at 909-396-3327 or via email at lomalley@aqmd.gov<mailto:lomalley@aqmd.gov>.  I would be happy to be of assistance.

Best Regards,
